There is something unique to every wedding, and Berit finds it. The best wedding photography is more than a series of still pictures. It is a kind of physical poetry, portraying the essence of both people and place. As one of the earlier proponents of a magazine quality, photojournalistic style in wedding photography, Berit prides herself on being able to capture the romantic spark between a couple, as well as the mood, personality, ambiance, even geography of the wedding.
Whether you exchange vows in a cavernous cathedral or on a sun-splashed beach, your individuality is her artistic palette. And your love and commitment to one another is what guides her in her photography. From a wedding’s smallest details to its grandest gestures, Berit’s images capture unexpected moments of magic. And her creativity extends not only to her photographs – her use of natural and assisted light; color as well as black-and-white imagery; and a variety of photographic techniques – but to her subtle and unobtrusive presence, and her ability to get people to relax and feel comfortable.
Berit has worked in, and studied, photography for more than 20 years. After beginning her career as a sports photographer, she has spent most of the past two decades photographing more than 400 weddings and lending her expertise to numerous wedding publications. Recently she was hired by the cosmetics and business mogul Bobbi Brown to shoot behind the scenes at the world-renowned Fall and Spring Fashion Weeks in New York City, and has photographed countless political figures, including Vice President Al Gore, and numerous Hollywood celebrities and musical talents.

Training and Education:
Berit has studied, and continues to study, with some of the best wedding photographers in the industry and throughout the country. She has been named a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) by the Professional Photographers of America, after passing a nationally-based technical exam and portfolio review. This elite group of CPP’s is compromised of only about four percent of all professional photographers, and requires the continuation of educational courses to help maintain technical excellence and creative edge. Berit received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with Honors from Manhattanville College in New York.
Berit is also the recipient of the prestigious Kodak Gallery Award , which honors and promotes the importance and value of excellence in professional photography; and the Fuji Masterpiece Award, honoring images of excellence and distinction. She also received the Photograph of the Year Award, and Judge’s Choice, from the Professional Photographers Association of New Jersey’s 2009 Annual Print Competition in the Social (Weddings) Category.
